Terms of Service

You need an account to use most of PaperWriter. You must provide accurate information, keep your login secure, and you’re responsible for activity under your account. You must be able to form a binding contract to use the service; if you’re using it on behalf of an organization, you confirm you’re authorized to accept these terms for it.

You agree not to use PaperWriter to:

• Break the law, infringe others’ rights, or violate the academic-integrity or AI-use policies that apply to you.
• Upload content you don’t have the right to use, or that is unlawful or harmful.
• Attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the service.
• Resell or abuse the service in ways that degrade it for others.

You are responsible for how you use AI output in your work, including complying with any disclosure rules of your institution, journal, or venue. PaperWriter’s provenance receipts are there to help you make that disclosure honestly.

You own your content and your output. The documents you write and the AI-assisted output you generate in PaperWriter belong to you. We claim no ownership of them.

You grant us only the limited permission we need to operate the service - for example to store, display, sync, and back up your content, and to enable collaboration and sharing at your direction. You’re responsible for having the rights to the content you upload and for how you use what you create.

The Editor is free. Paid use may be offered in two ways:

• Agent Workspace subscription. A recurring subscription for author-directed AI assistance beside the manuscript. The currently displayed $24 founding price is a product hypothesis, not a charge, until checkout and final billing terms are presented to you.
• Autonomous Writer credits. One-time credit packs fund measured autonomous model usage. A run may reserve a ceiling before it starts, charge the measured amount, and return the unused reservation afterward.

Prices, usage allowances, credit-pack terms, and billing terms may evolve as the product develops; we’ll make current pricing available on the pricing page. During the Autonomous Writer beta, you may request a quality refund when the delivered paper materially misses the approved scope. We review those requests in good faith and may return the remaining full payment through our payment processor. Taxes may apply.

AI features can make mistakes. AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date, and it can produce citations or facts that are wrong or fabricated. You are responsible for verifying every fact, quotation, and citation before you rely on it.

PaperWriter is a writing tool. It does not provide legal, academic, or professional advice, and it does not determine whether your use of AI complies with your institution’s or venue’s academic-integrity rules - that responsibility is yours.

The service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, JigSpec and PaperWriter will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim.

You can stop using PaperWriter and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms or use the service in a way that harms others or the service itself. Some provisions - such as content ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability - survive termination.

We may update these terms as the product evolves. When we make meaningful changes, we’ll update the “Last updated” date above. Continuing to use the service after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
